13.30   3 optional practically focused Parallel Sessions:

·         Making a Podcast (led by Alan Carr and Andrew Middleton) (Caledonian Academy Insight Area, H113)

This Practical Challenge will involve both experienced and beginners working together in small groups, each creating a podcast from a given scenario. The aim is to show how easily and quickly a podcast can be planned and recorded using a hand held digital recorder or a PC.  Which is the easiest? Which is the most effective? Who will make the best podcast in the allotted time? Are you ready for the Great Podcast Challenge?

 

·         Open Floor Thunderstorm (led by Andy Ramsden) (Caledonian Academy Insight Area, H113)

An Open Floor session: an opportunity for participants to present on the topic of podcasting in education (curriculum, research, assessment etc).  Each presenter is allowed a maximum of 10 slides and 10 minutes. After that, Andy  will turn off the computer. Presentations welcome on any aspect of the theme. Simply bring your USB stick. The computer will have internet access and speakers. ·         Student voices: students’ practical experiences of podcasting. (Led by Carol Comer) (Room CPD08)

      Students from the University of Chester and Sheffield Hallam will share their experiences of making audio and video podcasts, and the Chester students will share their experiences of receiving assessment feedback by podcast (Short clip on student experience of audio feedback 1:12).
